An inexplicable third round pick for the Bears in 2022, Jones, 29, won’t make the Seahawks’ 53-man roster despite Zach Charbonnet (knee) starting the season on the PUP list. The Seahawks were Jones’ fifth NFL team. He has 197 rushing yards over 37 NFL games. The Packers’ initial 53-man roster will feature three running backs after Josh Jacobs was put on the commissioner’s exempt list. Martinez and Pierre Strong were fighting for a depth spot, but Green Bay chose to trade for Kaleb Johnson instead, releasing both Martinez and Strong. Also waived/released by the Packers were LS Cal Adomitis, T Brant Banks, G Dylan Barrett, CB Shemar Bartholomew, T Dalton Cooper, DT Jaden Crumedy, TE Drake Dabney, CB MJ Devonshire Jr., G Josh Gesky, WR Chris Hilton Jr., CB Domani Jackson, WR Kisean Johnson, EDGE Nyjalik Kelly, S Murvin Kenion III, T/G Darian Kinnard, EDGE Arron Mosby, WR Isaiah Neyor, RB Jaden Nixon; S Mark Perry, WR Kaden Prather, LB TJ Quinn, WR Will Sheppard, CB Jaylin Simpson, DT Nazir Stackhouse, RB Pierre Strong Jr., TE Messiah Swinson, G Dillon Wade, EDGE Arden Walker, and LB Kristian Welch.

Etienne will be eligible to come off IR at some point during the 2026 regular season. He got some buzz during offseason workouts and training camp but has exceedingly little chance of seeing significant regular season snaps for Carolina. Etienne as a rookie in 2025 had 20 carries for 94 scoreless yards, functioning mostly as a kick returner.
McLaughlin could return to the Broncos as a practice squad player. The Broncos also waived DT Israel Antwine, CB Brent Austin, wide receiver Michael Bandy, LS Luke Basso, CB Sean Fresch, DB Ricardo Hallman, OT Reid Holskey, TE Justin Joly, WR Kolbe Katsis, WR Dane Key, WR Joseph Manjack, OLB Dasan McCullough, DT Jordan Miller, OT Tyler Miller, LB Red Murdock, OL Gavin Ortega, S Parker Robertson, WR Cameron Ross, WR Kyrese Rowan, RB Cody Schrader, S Miles Scott, OLB Ron Stone Jr., CB Reese Taylor, OLB Johnny Walker Jr., DT Kristian Williams and LB Taurean York. Those three players must miss at least four games.
Moore didn’t see much playing time in 2025 after posting 352 yards and three touchdowns for Carolina in 2024. The eight-year NFL veteran will likely wind up on another roster in the coming days. Carolina’s final roster cuts included defensive tackle Elijah Garcia, offensive lineman Jake Curhan, cornerback Robert Rochell, safety Isaiah Simmons, outside linebacker Cam Gill, offensive lineman Ja’Tyre Carter, quarterback Kyle Trask, tight end James Mitchell, and outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon, cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson, cornerback Cam Miller, safety Demani Richardson, outside linebacker Isaiah Smith, linebacker Maz Mwansa, defensive tackle Parker Petersen, offensive lineman Isaia Glass, cornerback Devonta Smith, linebacker Maema Njongmeta, center Nick Samac, running back Tre Tyus, cornerback Corey Thornton, wide receiver Casey Washington, wide receiver Ja’seem Reed, linebacker Trevin Wallace, and defensive tackle Jared Harrison-Hunte.
Seriously, obviously. Neal was somewhat inexplicably given a one-year contract in early March after one of the more disastrous rookie contracts in recent memory, only to be released during final cuts. Perhaps the team thought the magnetic polarities of the Earth would swap between then and now. Even so, the veteran minimum contract extended to the former first-round pick doesn’t cut too deep. Perhaps an offensive line-needy team will try their hand at a career resurgence, but we wouldn’t count on it.
Indy drafted Freeland in the fourth round of the 2023 draft. He made nine starts as a rookie but only took the field for 23 offensive snaps in his second season. Freeland then missed the entirety of 2025 with a fracture in his right leg.
McNichols will start the season sidelined with a linger quad injury he suffered in mid-August. Used primarily as a pass-catching back, McNichols could see playing time later this season if Rachaad White or Jacory Croskey-Merritt miss any time. For now he should remain on waivers.
It’s a bit surprising after Hunter was acquired in a 1-for-1 swap for Tutu Atwell three days ago, but the Dolphins are undoubtedly hoping he will clear waivers and revert to the practice squad. The move was also a Miami money-saver, so it was not all for naught. Also waived/released by the Dolphins are OT Gottlieb Ayedze, CB Miles Battle, S Major Burns, TE Jeremiah Franklin, QB Mark Gronowski, WR Donaven McCulley, EDGE Rodney McGraw, CB Jai’Onte’ McMillan, QB Cam Miller, DL Fatorma Mulbah, LB Cam Riley, RB Carlos Washington Jr., DL Matthew Butler, LB Tyrel Dodson, EDGE Cameron Goode, OT Charlie Heck, S Lonnie Johnson Jr., WR Terrace Marshall Jr., EDGE David Ojabo, WR Jalen Reagor and CB Marco Wilson.
Porter Jr. spent all of training camp on the PUP list with a back issue. He was also searching for a new contract without much luck, so it’s safe to assume the back and bank issues were related. Without much leverage in the situation, he is likely stuck playing out the 2026 season on his rookie deal.
Tyson has been dealing with hamstring issues since his senior season at Arizona State. The issue flared up during training camp and he is now expected to be sidelined for roughly two months, as of two weeks ago. With an international game in Week 7 and a bye the following week, a Week 9 return looks like the most likely outcome for the rookie. He could still put up strong fantasy numbers in the second half of the season, but it’s hard to justify holding him in leagues with shallow benches.
Homer was fighting for an end-of-bench spot in the Steelers’ running back room. His release indicates they will keep Eli Heidenreich on the initial 53-man roster. Also waived/released by the Steelers were DL Kyler Baugh, DB Devan Boykin, DB Sebastian Castro, DL Anthony Goodlow, WR Max Hurleman, DB D’Shawn Jamison, OL Steven Jones, TE Lance Mason, TE Lake McRee, OL Doug Nester, RB Lew Nichols, DB Doneiko Slaughter, WR Brandon Smith, LB Julius Welschof, LB Jacoby Windmon, LB Malik Harrison, DL Esezi Otomewo, and LB Elandon Roberts.

The Bears placed RB Brittain Brown, LB Tony Fields, DB Jaylon Jones and WR Ray-Ray McCloud III on injured reserve and activated P Tory Taylor.
Dallas was the odd man out in the backfield after the signing of Chris Rodriguez, ultimately prompting his release. The team will move forward with Bhayshul Tuten, Rodriguez, and LeQuint Allen atop the depth chart entering the regular season. Also waived or released were LB Yasir Abdullah, QB Joey Aguilar, DT Tommy Akingbesote, DL T.J. Bollers, WR Brady Boyd, WR Chandler Brayboy, LB Amari Burney, OL Jerome Carvin, DE Quindarius Dunnigan, TE Patrick Herbert, CB Preston Hodge, DT Jalen Hunt, OL Ricky Lee, LB Jalen McLeod, OL Timothy McKay, CB Jabbar Muhammed, S Devin Neal Jr., OL Jimto Obidegwu, WR Trebor Peña, S Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig, RB J’Mari Taylor, S Trevian Thomas, WR Michael Wortham, OL Kilian Zierer, QB Carter Bradley, DT Kelvie Rose, CB Corey Ballentine, OL Geron Christian Jr., OL Chuma Edoga, WR Tim Jones, QB Nick Mullens, OL Sam Mustipher, LB Baylon Spector, and WR Austin Trammell.

San Francisco also placed offensive lineman Austen Pleasants on injured reserve. Both players will miss at least four games to start the year. Kirk missed most of training camp with the calf issue. Mike Evans, De’Zhaun Stribling, and Deebo Samuel will start for the team in three-receiver sets. Even when Kirk comes back, he’s likely stuck as the WR4 on the depth chart.
The 30-year-old receiver has made a name for himself on special teams and as a blocker. He’s caught five balls over the last two years for the Raiders. Also waived/released by the the Rams on a quiet day of last cuts are: S Nick Andersen, OL A.J. Guerendo, still recovering from a pec injury, will miss at least the first four weeks of the regular season. This helps to clarify the Niners backfield situation headed into the season. Behind Christian McCaffrey will be some combination of Kaelon Black — who has drawn praise from coaches and QB Brock Purdy — and Jordan James, who missed most of training camp with a rib injury. Guerendo is a long way from playing time in the Niners offense.
The designation to return means that Dell is expected to contribute in some capacity this season, although he appears a ways off still. With Jaylin Noel still nursing an injury after experiencing a setback and Jayden Higgins lost for the season, recent acquisition Kayshon Boutte has all the runway to operate as the WR2 opposite Nico Collins to start the season. Xavier Hutchinson should also see an uptick in opportunities while tight end Dalton Schultz should see a significant boost in weekly volume.
