News for Kirk, Christian
49ers placed Christian Kirk (calf) on injured reserve. 2026-08-30 19:00:03 San Francisco also placed offensive lineman Austen Pleasants on injured reserve. Both players will miss at least four games to start the year. Kirk missed most of training camp with the calf issue. Mike Evans, De’Zhaun Stribling, and Deebo Samuel will start for the team in three-receiver sets. Even when Kirk comes back, he’s likely stuck as the WR4 on the depth chart.
The Athletic’s Matt Barrows reports that “a Week 1 roster spot seems to be slipping away from” 49ers WR Christian Kirk (calf). 2026-08-20 18:00:03 Barrows’ phrasing leaves room for interpretation, but it seems as though he is suggesting Kirk could be a cut candidate. The veteran wide receiver was sidelined by a calf injury in the spring and reinjured it in the first practice of training camp. He should probably be avoided in fantasy drafts at this time.
