Cardinals waived RB Trey Benson (knee). 2026-08-24 17:00:02 The Cardinals waived/injured Benson, meaning he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list if he were to clear waivers. The third-year pro has been slowed by the same knee injury that ended his 2025 season and was already a cut candidate after the Cardinals signed Tyler Allgeier to a deal this offseason and drafted Jeremiyah Love. Benson has rush 92 times for 451 yards and one touchdown in his career while serving primarily as James Conner’s backup. |

Trey Benson (knee) returned to practice but did not participate in 11-on-11 drills yet. 2026-08-18 14:00:02 Benson seems like he’s in danger of losing his roster spot after the Jeremiyah Love pick and the Tyler Allgeier signing. He simply hasn’t been healthy. The 24-year-old former third-round pick will try to show the Cardinals something over the next two weeks to stay in the fold. |

Cardinals RB Trey Benson (knee) said he “kind of had a setback” while recovering from in-season meniscus surgery last year. 2026-06-05 17:00:03 Then on injured reserve, Benson said he was feeling good when his practice window opened, and he knew this was his “time to shine” as the Cardinals’ lead running back. Unfortunately, he started “going a little too hard” on the practice field and ended up triggering a setback. He was still working his way back onto the practice field as of earlier this week. The Cardinals are currently on break until mandatory minicamp begins on June 8th. Hopefully, Benson can resume practicing then. ESPN’s Dan Graziano believes Benson could be a trade candidate, given the Cardinals’ depth at the running back position. Perhaps, he will receive another time to shine in a new locale. |

Cardinals RB Trey Benson (knee) was seen working with trainers at organized team activities on Tuesday. 2026-06-02 20:00:03 Benson, 23, suffered a knee injury in Week 4 last year. He was placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery in-season. Although he resumed practicing, the team never activated him from injured reserve. Unfortunately, Benson appears to be buried on the depth chart behind RBs Jeremiyah Love, Tyler Allgeier and James Conner (ankle) right now. Benson is under contract with the Cardinals through 2027. |
